Vanguard

Call Of Duty Vanguard the newest addition to the Call Of Duty Franchise was released a few months ago from the time of writing in September. Before it launched it was advertised that it would be running on the same engine as Modern Warfare. Meaning the mechanics (running, jumping, sliding…) would feel the same. Activision did not disappoint. As soon as I got into my first game I could immediately feel the difference, and I was so happy to be playing a game as good as Modern Warfare again. Or so I thought.

Although the movement felt the same, after playing for a while I realized that I was not playing a game like Modern Warfare. Graphics were not quite as good, but most prominently there were many problems with the balancing.

But we won't focus too much on what the problems were when Vanguard first came out, we will talk more about what the problems are now, after all this blog is about the current state of Call Of Duty not the past state.

Maps: I commend Activision for releasing Vanguard with lots of maps, 19 to be exact, but many of the maps are not fun to play. Shipment and Das Haus are great, but other maps like Decoy are just poorly designed. After spawning in you have to run for a solid 15 seconds before you see any action, only because the map is set up in a way where you spawn extremely far away from the middle.

Shotguns: Even though Activision tried to fix the shotguns they are still overpowered. On a small map like shipment I can easily kill someone on the other side without even trying. Something that shouldn't be possible.

Incendiary grenades: If there was one thing I could take out of the game right now it would be the incendiary grenade. An enemy can throw it as soon as they spawn in and easily kill me. That is not the worst part, the incendiary grenade not only deals a lot of damage but it also severely obstructs an enemies vision. It is fine when one person is using it but when every one on each team is using it you can barely see your screen. As a camo grinder I need to invest a lot of time into playing, and when I have to go up against people using the incendiary grenades for hours a day it is extremely annoying. Personally I think the incendiary grenade is the biggest problem in Call Of Duty for years and it must be fixed.

Camo Challenges: Vanguard challenges are extremely time consuming, which is fine. What is not fine is the fact that some challenges do not track. This means for example you need to get a long shot kill for a challenge. You kill the person from long range, but since the challenges don't track you don't get your reward. As a camo grinder all I can do is hope this gets fixed quickly.

These are the main problems at the moment in Call Of Duty Vanguard my next post will be my suggestions to Activision on how to resolve these issues. Until then answer this questionnaire and let me know what your favorite Vanguard map is.
